This is the very latest info i have been able to gather on the rapidly changing email/spam problem. I have listed the best practices below, relating to group email

#1 do not spam! If any of your sent messages receive a "report as spam" citation from anyone you could be in trouble. In other words it is not the content but the beholder that defines spam. So do not use the spam button lightly. Also do not tempt others with FWD's. attachments, etc,etc.

#2 be sure that your address book contains all of the names you want mail from

The wow factor has already ruined the auto business ( faster , bigger , etc ) and now it has set it's sights on internet communication .

On one side we have, Word, PDF , and Email FWD"s Standing alone against this complicated ,overpriced , formating junk, we have honest efficient plain text.

Since so many folks learn computers at work ,they may think the whole world has the same stuff and the same training they have. So Suzy gets a WOW Word document at work with the names of the last 40 recipients still showing and FWD's it to Pre digital Uncle Harry who is too proud to admit he cannot open it. Result: no communication.

So maybe this dumb joke was no loss. But if it is worth sending do this:

I -- best: use a wiki like this AND a plain text email using Bcc addressing and including the address of the wiki.

2 -- The wiki is optional, but very useful for groups. ( not FWD's )

3 -- If you really need a fancy printed copy for snail mail or hard copy filing , drag the plain text into Word. The point here is - start with plain text because once formated it may never clean up

Surfing - We click on links to go (surf ) to another page or site

So what doses a link look like ? the sidebar to the right is full of links, just run your curser over a link and it will change to a hand if you click you will surf to the page to which it points

FYI MS-Word is Not a document exchange format

Folkes who want to be read (like spamers ) use plain text or HTML for email. Pseudo-sophisticates

belive word is king -- it is not

A That is a link : if you click on it a web page will open. This one is a very good tutorial. Copy and paste is often easier and better than attaching. With a few clicks , you can email a whole website

A You do not have to read all your mail or even open it but if you try to filter it -- good luck

You will allways get spam, FWD's,Wrong phone numbers , someones cold ,etc ; learn to live with them.
